This message from Radio Team Leader Dave, K3EL:
“Prop is not good from here to anywhere, and hasn’t been all day. We are making occasional Qs on 20, but no real runs. Alan’s (VK6CQ) experience is that this sort of event shuts prop completely down here, but that it should recover relatively quickly. However, looking at Spaceweather, it might be a lengthy event.”

For the sake of all those who still need VK0EK, I hope this disturbance doesn’t last long. Here at 45 degrees north latitude in Maine, there is no trace of VK0EK or even FT4JA on any band this morning. On all previous days both have been S5 to S9+ on several bands around this time.
Also checked on the weather for Heard Island… Not good, but thoughts are with you! Safety first!
I knew something was up when DXA wasn’t showing many new stations worked. However, around 0930-1030UTC I did hear VK0EK here near San Francisco on 20m CW. So even with the aurora, there are opportunities.
West Coast, check 20m CW around 0730-1100UTC. I worked them Friday night from my little pistol station.
REMEMBER: they are listening DOWN
73 and Good DX!

Thanks for sticking it out in spite of the terrible condx and for the atno!
